How to Build Your First AI Workflow

A step-by-step guide to automating your work with chained prompts, no coding required.

How to Build Your First AI Workflow

What is an AI workflow?

A workflow is a series of prompts where each output feeds the next. Instead of one giant request, you break a task into small steps that are easy to check.

Pick one repeatable task

Choose something you do weekly, such as summarising meeting notes into action items. Write down the input and the output you want.

Chain the prompts

Create one prompt per step: extract, organise, then format. Test each step by itself before connecting them.

Step 1: Extract every decision and action item from the notes below.
Step 2: Group actions by owner and add a due date if mentioned.
Step 3: Format as a short email titled "Meeting recap".

Notes: [paste notes]

Add a human checkpoint

Always keep a review step before anything is sent or published. It takes a minute and prevents embarrassing mistakes.
